Skin boosters have been used in aesthetic practice for years, and their role is now clearer: they are designed to support the skin’s own repair and regenerative processes.
However, the same product can produce different patient feedback from one clinic to another. The difference is not always in the product itself. Injection depth, dosage, technique, and treatment intervals can all affect the treatment experience and results.
Using PNPure™ as an example, let’s take a look at the key operating parameters and treatment plan design for skin booster injections.
Early skin booster products were largely based on hyaluronic acid (HA), mainly for hydration and moisture retention. In recent years, ingredients such as polynucleotides (PN) and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) have also become part of the skin booster market.
Take PNPure™ as an example. When injected into the dermal layer, PN can support fibroblast activity and extracellular matrix remodeling. In practice, treatment goals may include smoother skin texture, improved firmness, and better overall skin quality.
The following parameters are practical references for PNPure™. Always follow the product’s approved instructions and adjust treatment according to the patient and treatment area.
Different areas require different injection approaches.
Cheeks and forehead: 30G–32G needle with an appropriate linear injection technique.
Periorbital and perioral areas: A 32G needle may be used for small-point injections. These areas have thinner skin and require careful control.
Neck and hands: 30G–32G needle with linear injection, while paying close attention to local anatomy.
PN injections are generally placed in the superficial to mid dermis.
Face, neck, and hands: approximately 0.8–1.0 mm
Periorbital area: approximately 0.5–1.0 mm
For PNPure™, the reference dose is 0.02–0.03 mL per injection point.
A typical PNPure™ protocol is 2–3 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart. After the initial treatment course, maintenance treatment can be considered every 6–12 months based on the patient’s response and treatment goals.
Besides injection technique, it is also necessary to understand the ideal candidates and provide clear aftercare instructions.
PN skin boosters may be suitable for patients with fine lines, mild skin laxity, enlarged pores, rough texture, or dull-looking skin related to photoaging. They may also be considered for persistently dry skin, reduced moisture retention, or visible horizontal neck lines.
Patients with sensitive-looking skin and redness may also be considered when the treatment goal is to improve overall skin quality rather than add volume.
Patient selection should come before treatment. Review medical history, allergies, current medication, skin condition, and treatment expectations before proceeding.
1. Avoid touching the treated area while injection points remain open, usually during the first 4–6 hours.
2. Avoid water and makeup for the first 24 hours unless otherwise advised.
3. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot springs for 48 hours.
4. Use strict sun protection for one week; physical sun protection is preferred.
PN treatment does not produce its full effect immediately. Changes are usually gradual.

Temporary redness, swelling, and bruising are common injection-related reactions and generally resolve within several days. Small nodules can occur, particularly with overly superficial placement or excessive product at one point. Careful injection technique and dose control can help reduce this risk.
How well a skin booster works largely depends on how well the treatment plan is carried out, and the details of the treatment procedure are especially important.
