Anti-wrinkle injections aid in wrinkle reduction formed by the muscles of facial expression. Composed of a commercially prepared form of Clostridium botulinum, this causes a block in the nerve activity to the injected facial muscles, providing a temporary reduction in muscle movement.

Anti-wrinkle injections are commercially prepared from Clostridium botulinum toxin. When injected, specific facial muscles are targeted and relaxed, reducing facial wrinkles. When the muscles of facial expressions contract, they can wrinkle the skin and cause wrinkles. Continued shrinking that continues unabated over time can lead to expression lines, but anti-wrinkle injections may help prevent this.

The effect is temporary, lasting about 3-4 months, and the treatment needs to be repeated to maintain the effect.

The brows, forehead, and around the eyes are common treatment areas. This treatment is designed to relax the facial muscles and expressions, which can improve the beauty of the face by adjusting the dynamics and interaction between the facial muscles.

The higher the dose and the more frequent the treatment, the more likely it is that immunity will occur. Neutralizing antibodies may be produced by the body's immune system and thus act as a vaccine for itself.

To prevent this from happening, at the Victorian Cosmetic Research Institute, we use a purified anti-wrinkle injection that has minimal risk of eliciting an immune response and subsequent non-response to treatment.

However, once immunity is conferred, it's important to note that none of the brands will work -- even the purified version. In the case of immunization, there is a wait, often years, to reverse immunity.
